Mystery School Teachings

How the Western Mysteries are taught

The methods and practice of the Western Path to Enlightenment do not require the student to withdraw from mundane life, but rather encourage full participation with life, using every experience as an opportunity for transformation, such that everyday life itself becomes a vehicle to self realization. The Western Mysteries are all about practical application of the spiritual philosophies straight into life.

The practical teachings include things such as development of the soul and energy fields, strengthening direct connection to spiritual guidance, meditation and prayer, rituals and sacred ceremony, earth magick, higher magick, kabbalistic thought, harnessing one’s will to elicit alchemical transformation within oneself and the world, and much more.

What is included in the teachings of the Mystery Tradition?

Whenever these ancient teachings have resurfaced, they usher in a Golden Age for humanity. Inevitably, this River of Knowledge must submerge again to protect its integrity and purity.

This has been referred to as The Underground River, whose roots can be traced directly to ancient Egypt, and from there extending further to the Dawn of Humankind.

The mystery teachings from each of the 7 Schools flow like interweaving streams from this deep underground river, encompassing the original seeds of wisdom from which grew all philosophy, all religious and spiritual traditions, as well as the alchemical arts that birthed today’s science.

Defining Qualities of the Western Tradition’s Teachers

The western mystery teachers do not conform to stereotypical images of enlightened masters, nor do they tend to make a great show of themselves in their dress or presentation. Even at this level they are highly involved in daily life (unlike the monks and gurus of the Eastern Tradition). They teach by way of ‘crazy wisdom’ and are willing to do whatever it takes, often the unexpected, to help others progress in the path to enlightenment.

A true spiritual teacher is someone who embodies the presence of God/dess within and lives in accordance with the Light. Through contact with such a Teacher, the student is able to receive a transmission of this illuminated consciousness within their aura, thus serving to awaken the light of their soul. It is comparable to two candles – one lit and one unlit. When the teacher and student come together, the light passes between them, igniting the student’s inner flame, and illuminating them both. This is the foundation for attaining enlightenment within the Western Mystery Tradition.
